Back to School

The best part about back to school as a kid was getting new clothes. Now that I am a mom I realize I am mean. (Duh.) I try to hide some of the new clothes from my kids--like long jeans and sneakers because it's still too hot. Well, I gave in on the shoe thing but I hid the long pants because I don't want to see holes in their jeans by October. And since I am sewer extraordinaire I made Ilene some smocks. How cute are these? But who am I kidding--the best part about back to school is having 2 out of the 3 kids gone 7 hours a day. As evidenced by my favorite commercial of all time--Staples "Back to School".

Ilene is like a little model. That commercial is funny and thats how I felt until he actually went back today and i realized how long he was actually gone.

See Nicole, that's why you will go to heaven, and I won't. Because I LIKE having my house to myself. Less mess, less fighting, more quiet. Am I the only one who craves silence? Told you I was mean.

I wonder if I will be really sad to see Jackson go to school. I think the only mourning I will do is for selfish reasons like me being old enough to have a kid who attends school rather than me missing my kid.

The smocks are adorable!

I know what you mean Cyn. I am just counting the days now till Marlon goes back on the 2nd. I really can't wait, I know that sounds really bad. I must be mean too.

I love the smocks, Cyn! Ilene looks adorable in them.

I can't wait to go camping with you this weekend!

Love,
Your sis

I love those smocks! Where did you get the t-shirts to wear underneath? I have a hard time finding feminine looking t-shirts for my girls....

jessica--
the t-shirts are from wal mart. $3

Those smocks are darling. I have to know - do you do all your stuff with or without patterns? I do home decor stuff with out patterns but I've never done clothes without. Oh, I take that back, I made a pair of pants for my daughters webkinz without a pattern. Oh! And if you used a pattern what was it? They are so cute.

Casey--
I rarely make clothes without a pattern if ever.

The pattern is New Look 6195

Hey, that's my granddaughter, of course she's cute!

That commercial was new to me. I was busting a gut. I did not appreciate it as much as your mother does. I was gone to work while you kids were still in bed and you were home by the time I got back. So...where was the difference?

Ilene is a perfect little model. I am serious, she could be a model. Mom and I are talking about how we can see what a beautiful woman she will be as she continues growing. Paul needs to start preparing by taking lessons on club-wielding and Judo. Or not.
