Cha-Ching!

Dear Wal-Mart,

A few months ago I would've cursed your store for having so many self-checkout stands and cutting way back on your oh-so-friendly employees thus forcing them to go to the other friendliest place in America--the DMV. But life is all about turning lemons into lemonade, so instead of clenching my germ-filled shopping cart handle when I can't find any checkers with lines shorter than Disneyland, I now let the kids have a blast at the check out stands.

So thank you Wal-Mart for letting my kids play cash register in real life. The three of them have a whole assembly line system each time we go to your dreaded store. One physically scans the items, one is quality control to make sure the item was actually charged, and the youngest child is the bagger--a true division of labor. They are very good at it. I just stand by now and read a trashy magazine while the child labor is being performed. Now that's progress.

Sincerely,
Cynthia

Let me guess, Nathan is quality control.

Ha ha ha! I bet Nathan is the quality control. (O:

Yeah, stinkin' Wal Mart. Everyone I know has a love/hate relationship with that darn store.

Love,
Patty

So that is why you wanted me to take along Hallie to buy a new inner tube for her bike.

I didn't realize you were trying to get me out of some work!!

I love that you took your camera to wal-mart! Our wal-mart has no self-check out just a million 20 items or less....honestly why???? Twenty is still alot of items and it's does not speed things up!

That is great! Maybe I do need two more kids, I miss being able to read the trashy mags.

Don't bring up the: "If you don't get a good education this is what you will have to do for the rest of your life" conversation...since they really think it is fun now.... ;-)

I am loving the Wal-Mart here... it isn't half as crowded as I am used to. I am waiting for the "real" Wal-Mart experience to appear. Perhaps it is because they have a Blimpies instead of McD's at this Wal-Mart... the healthier fast food mart may attract less of a crowd.

I also got my pillows today. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. They look AWESOME with my new paint (picture me typing this covered in paint because that is what I look like right now). Can't wait to blog about the transformation.

Ilene, Blimpies has no impact on the quality or quantity of Wal-Mart shoppers. The Chino Super Wal=Mart has a Blimpie and it is still as ghetto and unkempt as any other Wal Mart I have been too!

I loved this blog, Cyn. Just because it is the perfect capture of your and your humor and the reason why I love your kids - joy in the simple things!!!

I haven't been to Walmart in months and I don't miss it. And I've only ever used one of the self check outs at a grocery store once due to some stupid preconceived notion I have about those things but You may have convinced me its okay.

Nicole, I too had preconceived notions about those self checkouts--you know, the store owners are going cheap on us by not doing THIER job anymore, but the kids absolutely love scanning the items.

Wal Mart is a nasty word where I work. I don't care.....no one tells me where to shop!

By the way...I don't go to Walmart for my own reasons. One is I don't shop! Your mama does that. That way my hands are clean.

I agree...Wal-Mart stinks. Thats why I shop at a different store who delivers my stuff to my door so I don't have to go into Wal-Mart.
