Reverse Deja Vu

If it's possible to be in a situation where you feel you have been there before, isn't it possible to be in a situation and already be looking back at yourself years from now? I had that kind of moment today. It is a glorious fall day, the leaves are changing colors and beginning to fall. Hallie wanted to walk to get Nathan and Ilene at the bus stop today. So we walked off, hand in hand, down the street. The breeze was blowing, Hallie was singing, the leaves were falling. As we approached Nathan and Ilene, Hallie ran to them and they had a group hug. As the four of us walked home I noticed Ilene had a rip with a grass stain on her knee (click on photo above to see it in full glory) so we talked about what kind of fun patch we could put over it. In that moment, life was grand. I looked forward 20 years and realized I wouldn't always have three little friends who needed me that would hold my hand as I walked down the street. It was a good memory to file away in my brain because I know in five minutes someone will be screaming, "She's touching me..."

Has the "She's touching me..." started yet! :)

You are a wonderful mother and wife. Hopefully these little moments can keep you going. I love you.

Oh that is sweet. Oh, even what Paul said was sweet. I love those glimpses of heaven. Those times I think, "Yes! I do want to be with these monsters for eternity!" :)

LOVE Ilene's hair. LOVE your shoes. Where did you get those?!

Cynthia,
It's like those times when we went camping in our first trailer. We had fun, fun, fun! And everybody got along. (They did, didn't they?) Well, that's the way it was and we liked it!!

Okay- Have you ever felt cool by association? I feel that way right now. you have to let me link your blog from mine. I want all of my 'oremite' friends to know how funny & talented my provo friends are. You are hillarious. Only you could single handedly bash my cooking & decorating, ( you actually justify my parenting )while I laugh out loud. I must have some great self confidence. Plus I know that our friendship stretches beyond the boundaries of vinyl-letter-sayings-pasted-onto tiles- of which I have several in my home :-)You are the best. and can I put in an order for the dammit doll! I need at least 2 dozen

That's a great memory. I have a lot of moments like these (sans children) in my life. I heard it described in a cheesy TV movie oncee as "my heart took a picture" and I kind of cling to that phrase because I really like it. Lovely blog! - carebear

See, you are a little sentimental in there! My problem is I do that all the time. I look at the kids eating breakfast, "Capture this moment, Allison, it won't ever be like this again..." They do schoolwork, "Look at Maren helping Mandy, capture that, it is so sweet..." They make up plays based on Br'er Rabbit stories, "They're all using the fourth wall--capture this moment because they're all growing up before your eyes..." This is so sweet. Paul is sweet too. This whole post and its comments are all very sweet. And so are you!
