40 pounds of Roma tomatoes...10 orange fingernails...1 helpful husband...2 dozen canning jars...5 hours of boiling water (blanching and sealing)...4 slippery tomatoes falling to floor...1 wood floor needing to be mopped....10-15 meals ahead of tomato soup and homemade pasta sauce.

Yum! Homemade tomato soup sounds wonderful.
I have never canned anything.
You are so industrious. We did tomatoes for the first time last year and have loved them. I don't think I'll do much canning this year...

How do you manage?! You never cease to impress me!
Why is anyone ever impressed with what I do? I do nothing other than sew and cook. I don't clean except when necessary, I don't play with my kids (not kidding), and I am insomniac. Wanna trade places? I didn't think so.
I taught myself to can this year! However I made the mistake of starting with tomato sauce. So not worth it. Whole tomatoes absolutely. Your pies look yummy too. I just made one but froze/canned more for later.
Cytnhia, I dream of having time and energy to make fresh, homemade pies and can my vegetables. I need to quit my job so I can be free.
Love,
Patty

I clean instead of can. I think my kids may appreciate your talents more.
Weren't we supposed to have a homemade tomato soup cook-off?
Kathleen--
Make sure you move back really soon because we are so going to have this contest!
A polarizing filter would have taken the reflection right out of those jars and made for deep red colors!
I remember when your mama did these things.
You would be proud! Johh and I spent the last few days canning 64 bottle of peaches...9 bottles of peach pie filling, 20 bottle of apple pie filling and 14 pints of home made pizza sauce!!! Are you pround of me? my Food Snob friend! I can definitly feel your canning pain! Way to go friend!
