Several years ago we packed up the car in the night and took off the day after Christmas for California from Provo, only we headed to San Diego and Sea World before we headed up north. But one of my favorite parts of the trip was driving past the orange groves and buying fresh oranges right off the tree. It was the perfect treat in the middle of winter.

Re: Ilene's comment. I am from Oregon too and we always called it "the coast" because somehow the word "beach" illicits thoughts of "clear," "blue" and "warm" water, not words you'd use to describe the ocean in Oregon. But I still miss it.dalenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13414972890937798371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261219.post-1136831090332816382006-01-09T11:24:00.000-07:002006-01-09T11:24:00.000-07:00Ilene here. . . I could write a blog (if I had a blog) about In-n-Out. Funny, the things I miss most about my SoCal revolve around food: In-n-Out, Claim Jumper, and the Northwoods Inn. I do miss Disneyland, though. Especially the Blue Bayou restaurant; they made a great Monte Cristo sandwich. Oh, I do miss the weather. I miss driving to the Brea mall to go Christmas shopping with the windows down. I miss sitting on a beach and being warm and dare I say, hot! In Oregon we call it the coast because it doesn't qualify to be a beach (although it is nice not to have a nuclear power plant across the road). Okay, I guess my memories of Cali don't completely revolve around food after all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261219.post-1136518532704849662006-01-05T20:35:00.000-07:002006-01-05T20:35:00.000-07:00Nothing like California in the winter to lift your...Nothing like California in the winter to lift your spirits and then dash them when you must return to sub-60 degree weather!!

Loved the trip and wish it could have been longer.

Don't miss the traffic though.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13708813780220229238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261219.post-1136514889733677132006-01-05T19:34:00.000-07:002006-01-05T19:34:00.000-07:00Disneyland's free in Utah?Disneyland's free in Utah?Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15120227319078536460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14261219.post-1136484343550818752006-01-05T11:05:00.000-07:002006-01-05T11:05:00.000-07:00Wow.
