Nothing will give me more pleasure in life than to see that my children are happy, successful members of society. Ah, but will they be able to a make a bechamel sauce or perfect huevos rancheros? Such are the questions that keep me up at night. In an effort to teach my children to cook (they’re getting there!) I bought this book on Saturday. I’ll admit I am a sucker for any overpriced item from Williams-Sonoma, including their luscious cookbooks. (Ok, so I like their free website for recipes better.) So far my kiddos have made the biscuits/shortcakes for strawberry shortcakes and tonight we made the chocolate crinkles . Next up? The pretzels. Hot chewy bread covered in salt. mmmm. Finally, an activity I truly do enjoy doing with my children. Sure beats foul-smelling Play-Doh activities. Tastier too.
My question: how do you keep your kids from sneezing in the batter?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, one of them always sneezes as we are mixing. I only let them help when I know only immediate family will be consuming the product.
Cynthia, I have a feeling all of your children will be fabulous cooks! And, someday, when they are in college, they will probably turn their noses up at boxed mac and chesee and ramen! (O: You will know you did your job well then.
ReplyDeleteLove ya!

Chocolate Crinkles are my favorite! Ok...one of them. Dang, now I am going to have to make them tomorrow
ReplyDeleteThose look so good!!!!
ReplyDeleteyum! thanks for sharing! We made this recipe yesterday, except I was 1/4 c short on cocoa. Yeah, i know bad news when you are baking CHOCOLATE cookies. I added some semi sweet chocolate chips to try and make up for it, but you could tell they weren't quite right. Still yummy though.
ReplyDeleteHomemaking is a lost art today. No one seems to feel it is fair for an educated woman to have to take care or even have a family. Kudos to you and all those sweet women who tend to their families (like your dear mother)raising tomorrow's future leaders and homemakers. Our society will pay dearly for the lack of great mom's and homemakers like you!
ReplyDelete(Now can I have one of those cookies?)
